Before handheld computing was all the rage, we had the Sharp Zaurus. The C3200 sports a 416MHz Intel PXA27x ARM cpu, 128MB ram, 6gig micro HD. Not a handheld device, but a true miniature laptop. The Zaurus c860 makes a particularly good home automation controller, by the way. Minimal power consumption for always-on use, all flash storage (no moving parts), and if you can get your hands on the serial adapter cable, mucho grooviness. Excellent project-box, even now.
